Chapters, Connectivity, and Certification

As an industry, we continue to see an unprecedented demand for connectivity and wireless mobility. The ever-increasing volume of IoT devices is changing the way we live and customers, who don’t want to be tethered to a hardline cable, increasingly depend on these devices and wireless connections. The reliability of the networks that support it all has never been more vital and evolving technologies are going to require skilled labor to keep us connected.

In order to keep consumers connected, the industry must stay connected to grow, evolve and learn from our collective intelligence. SCTE Director of Chapter Support Jessica Brill provides a roundup of leaders sharing their personal experiences and insights illustrating how SCTE chapters connect the industry.

Also in this issue, Kyrio President and CEO Ike Elliott takes us on a deep dive into the crucial role of connectivity, from working from home to healthcare and mission critical applications. CableLabs research confirmed that a large majority of mobile customers attempt to troubleshoot poor network connectivity by turning off Wi-Fi and switching to cellular. Both mobile and fixed broadband service providers can benefit from application-aware, automated routing technologies designed to deliver seamless connectivity, which paves the way for optimal user experiences.

SCTE certification is the industry’s premier professional endorsement at all levels of the telecommunications network. SCTE Director, Learning Operations Jill Banks takes a closer look at why certification is important to the industry and to upskilling the workforce.

As we continue to learn and grow, I look forward to the industry coming together again in Denver for SCTE® Cable-Tec Expo®. Please save the dates and plan to join us October 16-19 to celebrate 40 years of Expo as we connect, collaborate, and innovate.
