Then, Now, Next
Leading Connectivity’s Next Chapter
As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, I find myself thinking about how far we’ve come and how profoundly this industry continues to reinvent itself. Our story, like the story of connectivity itself, is one of constant evolution. What began as a museum dedicated to preserving cable’s entrepreneurial roots has become Syndeo Institute, a global center for intrapreneurship, innovation, and leadership development. At Syndeo Institute, we honor the visionaries who built this industry while equipping the next generation to build what comes next. This dual mission preserves our legacy while fueling innovation, and it is at the heart of everything we do.
From preservation to participation
The Cable Center was founded to preserve and steward the stories of pioneers who wired the unconnected by visualizing what was possible long before broadband or streaming existed. Those stories are not artifacts of the past; they are living lessons in courage, creativity, and collaboration. Today, Syndeo Institute extends that mission through programs like our Intrapreneurship Academy, Customer Experience Collaborative (CXC), and the newly unveiled Innovation & Intrapreneurship Award, which elevate leaders who think entrepreneurially from within their organizations. These initiatives empower professionals across the connectivity ecosystem to innovate where they are, create solutions that improve lives, strengthen businesses, and move our industry forward. Our newest project will harness artificial intelligence to make our extensive collection of oral histories accessible to all. By combining powerful storytelling with innovative technology, we’re ensuring that the insights of the industry’s past and present visionaries continue to spark the next big ideas that will drive our field forward for years to come.
Innovation in motion
In recent years, the industry has entered a period of rapid transformation that is challenging every assumption about how we work, connect, and lead. Through learning journeys like Leading with Agility, Driving Innovation, and Intrapreneurial Leadership, Syndeo Institute has helped organizations persevere in this new environment by giving leaders the tools to adapt quickly, inspire teams, and find opportunities to innovate.
Everywhere we look, technology is transforming the way we deliver value to customers. Yet what remains constant is the human element, the relationships, mentorship, and curiosity that fuel progress. As one of our members recently said, growth is where customer loyalty meets innovation. That is exactly where Syndeo Institute lives.
Looking ahead: Intrapreneuring the future
As we look toward the next decade, we are expanding our reach both in scope and geography. Our new partnerships in the UK and Europe, including with the Federation of Communication Services, mark the start of an exciting global chapter. These partnerships carry the spirit of the pioneers who built our industry, extending the reach of our programs into new markets while staying true to our heritage of connection and community. At Syndeo Institute, we like to say we are “intrapreneuring the heck out of the future.” What that really means is this: We are equipping leaders at every level to think and act like the innovators who built this industry from the ground up. We are showing them how to blend technology with humanity, and bold vision with practical execution.
As we carry this momentum forward, we are already preparing to celebrate the next generation of visionary leaders at the 2026 Cable Hall of Fame. Each year, the Hall of Fame reminds us that excellence is not a single achievement but a continuum that connects our pioneering past with the intrapreneurial leaders shaping the industry’s next era. The future of connectivity belongs to those who are both agile and anchored, leaders who know where we have been and are not afraid to reimagine where we can go next. As we celebrate four decades of innovation, Syndeo Institute remains steadfast in our commitment to serve as the bridge between then, now, and next. Because the best way to honor our history is to keep making it!
