Powering Workforce Development to Fuel Industry Expansion
With operations in 175+ U.S. locations, and a workforce exceeding 9,000, ITG Communications remains committed to fueling industry expansion. As telecom rapidly grows, particularly in underserved and unserved markets, the need for a skilled, scalable workforce has never been more urgent. We’re proud to be on the front lines of this evolution.
Meeting a moment of industry opportunity
The broadband industry is experiencing historic investment and growth with federal and state funding focused on expanding infrastructure, especially in rural America. To meet current demands, the FBA & PCCA Broadband Market Workforce Needs Study projects the need for 28,000 construction workers and 30,000 technicians. That number jumps to 119,000 over the next decade due to retirement and attrition. That’s a massive challenge. At ITG, we see it as a call to action, representing opportunity to empower upward mobility, and achieve broadband access and equity, one technician at a time.
Cultivating talent and building careers
We live by our guiding principle: “We Started as Techs.” I began my career as a field technician more than 20 years ago. I’ve experienced firsthand the impact the right training, mentorship, and leadership opportunities can have. At ITG, we don’t just talk about upward advancement, we live it. Many of our senior leaders started in the field, and their stories reflect a culture built on promoting from within.
Our structured training and leadership development programs are designed to support employees at every stage of their journey and go beyond technical instruction. We emphasize safety, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork, ensuring our teams are well-equipped for their jobs today, and for the leadership challenges of tomorrow. It’s about shaping agile, resilient leaders who can grow with the business. We don’t just fill roles, we build careers.
Our propriety workforce management and business intelligence platform, FUSE, enables real-time insights into training, workforce deployment, and productivity, allowing us to make data-driven decisions that keep our operations running smoothly. As workforce needs shift, FUSE allows us to respond quickly and efficiently while maintaining our high standards for service.
National reach, local impact
With operations in 46 states and 300,000+ miles of fiber installed, our turnkey service model, spanning locates, design, engineering, civil, construction, fulfillment, drop bury, and maintenance, makes us a one-stop trusted partner for telecom providers, utilities, data centers, and government agencies.
Some of our most rewarding work happens in rural communities, where the impact of broadband access is felt most deeply. As our customers implement state and federal initiatives, we provide the workforce and expertise needed to deliver on those promises, helping to bridge the digital divide while creating new jobs in regions that need them most.
Elevating the broadband workforce story
The work we do doesn’t just power connections, it powers communities. It creates career pathways, fosters economic development, and transforms lives.
With innovations like 5G, fiber-to-the-home, and AI-powered analytics accelerating the pace of change, the industry needs both cutting-edge technology and human expertise. While AI will enhance operations, it won’t replace the skilled field technicians who bring these networks to life. These hands-on roles remain critical and will be for decades to come.
Looking ahead
Our teams are equipped to support everything, from last-mile installations to complex network builds. We will scale with the industry, continuing to invest in people, tools, and processes.
Workforce development is not just a business priority; it’s a critical lever for industry expansion. It fuels everything we do. As we look ahead, I’m proud to lead a company that sees talent not just as a resource, but as the key to expanding opportunity.
At ITG, we’re proud and humbled to play a role in transforming communities, one technician at a time.
